Our Teachers

All of our teachers are passionate about music and the development of children.

They create a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development.

Pamela Beckerman

Pamela Beckerman is the director of Big Apple Music Together serving the communities of Columbus Circle/ Midtown West and Riverdale Music Togethers. Pamela came to Music Together®® as a parent seventeen years ago and is celebrating her fifteenth year as a Music Together teacher. She has a classical music and opera background, having performed in concerts and numerous small opera companies. She is also the proud parent of three wonderful young men.

Mia De Jesus

Mia De Jesus began singing at the age of eight and soon realized she was destined to pursue music. Having graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston with a degree in Professional Music, Mia has been recording music and singing with local bands through high school and college. She has been teaching Music Together for almost three years and is so excited to have started this new chapter in her life. We're thrilled to have Mia with us as she brings her warmth and passion for children, families, and Music Together. She's also the mommy to a lovely little girl, Sofia.

Anne Jacobs

Anne Jacobs is a professional singer and actress, a multi-instrumentalist and an avid dancer. Singing everything from opera to honky tonk, she has performed throughout the Northeast. She holds a BA in music from Wesleyan University and an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Hunter College. When Anne joined the Music Together community she found it to be the perfect match for her talents and interests. She strongly believes that musical activity is an essential part of life for everybody, not just a select few, and is delighted to have found a job that actually requires silliness rather than discouraging it.

Anna Upston

Anna Upston received a Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory and her Masters in Music from Catholic University. An operatic mezzo-soprano, she has sung leading roles on both coasts, including principal roles in Carmen, Marriage of Figaro, Cavalleria Rusticana, Dialogues of the Carmelites and more. She has also appeared at Weill Hall and Merkin Hall, in Washington, DC with the Shakespeare Theatre and in the Max Brooks film "Nightmares". As a Riverdale Mom, she discovered Music Together as a parent and has been thrilled to watch the musical development of her own children. She is delighted to have started teaching this wonderful program.

Jessica Kostival

Jessica Kostival came to NYC as a "Broadway Baby". She has performed in many musicals throughout the country including roles in Show Boat, My Fair Lady and The King & I.  Her dreams came true when she became an original cast member of the Broadway revival of 42nd Street, where she frequently performed the principal role.  Prior to moving to New York City, Jessica received a Bachelor's of Music in Music Education & Vocal Performance from Ithaca College and has taught music in public elementary schools.  Jessica is currently the music teacher at Riverdale Presbyterian Church Nursery School and has recently learned to play the ukulele.  Her favorite labor of love is being a mom to her beautiful daughter Olivia and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to bring the joy of music to all of her Music Together families.
